If you’re hoping to rely on Zoom’s live captioning being available by the time the semester starts: Zoom does currently provide audio transcripts of recorded meetings. However, the quality of the transcripts is very poor. Their transcripts do a much worse job than Google’s live captioning at accurately recovering what was said. If they are going to rely on the same technology they are already using, just in a live captioning form, the quality of the live captions may be very poor.

You can even record audio or video in the News Forum if you want to send a short recording out to the entire class by email. What is actually delivered in the email is a link that students will have to click on that will bring them back to OnCourse to view the video / listen to the audio recording

Once you change this once, it’s changed for all of your courses until you change it again. If you give students instructions on how to do this, they can also access the record video button and can use it in forum posts, if you want them to.

44:54
How about for Students to make videos on reply?

45:21
Are you referring to replies in discussion forums?

45:36
Yes.

45:54
Do students have to change the editor as well?

46:15
Yes, if they follow that same process to change their editor, they will be able to record videos anywhere on OnCourse they receive a text box. Yes, they do have to change their editor. It’s a preference tied to each account.

Here is the Answers documentation that can be shared with students to change their editing preferences nad record directly in OnCourse https://answers.fredonia.edu/x/LoPeAg
